I'm planning a trip to coincide with my 40th birthday in April (cries of "Vicster, 40? Never!" ring out across the forum!). The plan was 5 days of Avebury, WKLB, Silbury, Woodhenge etc etc, and an out-of-hours access visit to Stonehenge. We have chosen to stay within walking distance of Silbury, to enable us to see as much as possible - makes me wonder whether I will be filled with delight or horror upon our arrival!

Thanks for the heads up on this one Goff, I have been forewarned

Cheers, Vicster!

Yeah - I just can't believe it. I can't stop thinking that if the works had started a lot sooner - like when the holes first started to appear like a lot of people asked them to - things wouldn't have been anywhere near as bad.

I didn't even mention the alarming amount of slumping at the top! :(

I have to say, I did self-censor a lot of swearing out of my above rant. I was fuming! And still am!

I did something similar for my 40th last year

We stayed in a great family B&B very near Stonehenge

We has early morning special access to Stonehenge- so the nearer the better

We then went to Avebury complex, quick trip to old sarum and popped across to Glastonbury to climb the Tor. Finally we visited Stanton Drew.

Hope you have a great time

We ended it with 2 days at a UK vineyard - you get to 40 and you need your luxuries too!

It must be a 40 year old ex goth thing - getting special access to SH for your 40th!
