Hi Tom,
did you notice that bit in Clare's book about How Hill where "urns were inserted into a large glacial mound, just as 'secondary burials' were made in some burial mounds".
It kind of ties-in with what many of us have discussed over the past few years, the significance of natural places, just another one for the list.

that I recently read about. maybe it's just glacial. Maybe it had prehistoric significance. But whatever, the people that came later sound like they believed it did?

In Orkney, at least, it is relatively common for the likes of cists to be found inserted into glacial moraines. As a consequence it is easier to rule potential sites in than out

Moraines & eskers seem to have had a bit of a fascination , they are often easier to dig too .
