Silbury Hill

Silbury Mundi

"On what day does the Sun do it's bounce along the horizon and viewed from where ?"

You'll have to wait till the book comes, it will probably be 21st June, not always convinced by Devereux, but Pete put a photo up not so long ago, of a view from the top of Silbury, and it must have been that horizon towards Marlborough I think... As for Picked Hill, its a strange old hill that maybe could be seen from Marden, and of course it lies in the corridor of the Vale of Pewsey between Avebury/Stonehenge.....

what Dev wrote about was that you can see the sunrise from the top of Silbury then step down to the next level and watch it again.
Double sunrise.
Of course this can be done on any hill and I'm not convinced the Silbury Step is ancient.
I think it is the spoil that drax threw over the side.
Stukeleys sketches don't show the step.

And of course Silbury -Marlborough mound is due east .

Then again there is Tab. XXVL (A prospect of Silbury hill from the spring of the Kennet River: 13. May. 1724). Plate 24 here at http://www.avebury-web.co.uk/plates/24.jpg which does appear to show a step.
