I guess I'm in a minority here but I think it's wonderful that EH are fixing the hill. I think it's great that they are publishing regular updates and I don't really have a problem with a small time capsule being left behind when the work has finished. cheers fitz I don't think any of us here have a problem with E.H. actually fixing the hill. Hopefully if it is done correctly the hill will stand for many more thousands of years. However if they put this time capsule inside it will only encourage someone in the future to dig into the hill to find it causing damage to the repairs they have done. What is the point. Peace , Lubin

I'm not even sure about that. The publicity machine will have scans of every picture, document and article in the TC, available forever on the www, so there is no need to dig anything up, ever, making it pointless even putting the thing there in the first place.

The right place for the TC is in the ground beneath the current school, because the reason for it being suggested was because the school is closing this year.

The real problem is the precedent it creates, and not just at Silbury. Anyone with a media-friendly suggestion will have to be taken seriously in the wake of this foreign object being placed where it shouldn't. Maybe Avebury will have ash-scattering days [£150 + VAT] set aside for those of us who'd like a bit of us left there after we die. How about Men-An-Tol being hired out to childless couples for sexual acts in the hope of increasing fertility [Half price if you don't mind being on webcam]?

My application to turn Grimspound into a Bronze Age Experience Theme Holiday Village was turned down...
