I think if we were talking about almost any other major monument you would have more than a point, the thing we can be thankful for here is that Silbury has withstood the most indecent intrusions and sustained assaults and is holding up reemarkably well. I think in particular of the awful collapse of winter 2000, and the gaping hole left open to the weather there after.

Yes indeed - collapse, gaping hole = whoops!

Think of all that extra rain that we are being promised now as a result of climate change. Seen the news footage of mudslides all over the world? There's a big whoops coming soon if the hill ain't fixed soon. Have your scheduled meeting certainly, but if there are calls for more surveys, investigations, reports, publication of everything as consultative documents and further responses to the responses then its - whoops and whooosh!

I bet that the guys that built Silbury didn't spend forever asking everybody how to do it and what shape it should be.
