Silbury Hill

Bert is innocent?

I can go along with that.
I was born near there (although some say it was outside of the village of wedlock :) and know the area well.
I have noticed that the hill also looks like waden hill, same size and shape.
I have some pano's on my site @

follow the More Circles link.
The large circle at Stanton drew is the same size as the inner circles of Avebury. There was a chambered tomb nearby at Nempnett Thrubwell (great name!) which locals called the fairy toot.
It had 16 chambers which would have made it the largest in the country.
It totaly destroyed now :(

Phew!, i'm glad somebody else noticed the tump too, was begining to feel like a Bert. That long barrow has a way out moniker too. Fairy Toot...do you think they had mary-jane at hand back then ;-)

Meant to post this on my reply to pete, but me hand slipped.
Forgot to say, that a geophysical survey found a 6 ring concentric timber circle few years back (you all probably know this anyway) at Stanton Drew's large circle, with a large 'Henge like' earth bank running around the outside oriented NE. I was gonna add soething else too, but i've just gone blank ;( doh!
