There's the suggestion that Roman Leominche runs by it and Roman Mediomanum sits on it + Mucklestone area + Bradling Stone, Norton-in-Hales, + "Bearstone" (Barley or Ursa?).

The idea the Finger quoit is a resite comes from the water marks on it (NSJFS 1965, page 44).
