Does anyone know if any of these little Welsh earthfast 'tombs' have been excavated?

If so are the reports available?

Er... yes I think some have. I'll hobble to the bookshelf and find out more.

Sorry about the delay Mr Winds - I had to get a book back from someone I'd leant it to. According to Neolithic Sites of Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire (Children and Nash), Carn Wnda (aka Garnwnda) was excavated in 1848 by Fenton (he found bone and pottery).

Coetan Arthur (St David's Head) was excavated in 1899 by Baring Gould (presumably that's one excavator rather than two). This is also considered to be an 'earth fast' tomb.

I'm not sure whether you're also interested in the west Wales subterranean monuments, which seem to be associated with the 'earth fast' tombs. If you are, you may be interested in the excavations of the Morfa Bycham tombs (A, B and C) by Treherne, Giddens, Clarke and Ward in 1910.

Hope this helps.
