Ah, but by your own quote Tombo the history of the English language has to take in all influences on the language, whether it's named after the Angles or not….

The fact that "Geordie and Northumbrian words are more than 80 % Angle in origin" when compared to speakers of common English for the majority of the language's life and the majority of the country actually EMPHASISES the difference between Geordie English and the English language itself.

What's a '<B>comaprison</B>' BTW - the part of a penal establishment where they keep the geordie contingent? :oP (Tee-hee – I love below the belt typo-digs!!!)

What've I done???

Sorry. I can only skim read for fear of being caught peeking while working... What's going on now?

All long words an that. Not good for Goffik's head...

You're quite right, of course Moth! I just wanted to show that we in the north-east don't speak like Romans! I don't have a very strong accent, and what little there is is more Durham that Geordie. Weardale, where I live, has a dialect all of its own (called Wardle, after the valley) - I still, after at least 10 years, have trouble understanding some of the old-folks...
