Stonegloves, the most obvious 'iron element' healing spring that comes to mind is the Red Spring in Chalice Well Garden at Glastonbury. It is long way from you though, I should think anywhere in Scotland would be nearer.

No, I have one in Bolton that interests me. In Halliwell! The local history society say the Holy Well is at one place, actually in the parish of Heaton, and I say it is the monging one on the roadside that the council try to divert/stem/alter. If it's iron-rich it will have some healing properties - against anaemia, at least. The sulfur may have some 'germicidal' properties. The clear water of the supposed holy well has never been associated with curative powers.
