Hello,

If you're talking about the stone I think you're talking about they are probably the fossilised remains of a root system. Is the outline made of a series of small holes?
One day I'll scan my Uni dissertation and put it online somewhere. I tried to study/explain why sarsens are so shaped...

When you showed us the fossilised roots at last year's Megameet, I couldn't believe I'd not noticed them before! Mind you, I'd not looked for 'em before... ;)
