Mike Pitts - he's the bloke who wrote Hengeworld...

I'm about 3/4 of the way through it now, and not totally impressed (although it has some redeeming features). He's tried to write it as a sort of populist "thriller", but just can't resist slipping back into an archeological statistics freak every now and again, and he does seem to have his own agenda - a grand theory to foist on the rest of the world. And I prefer Julian's take on these things.

Mind you, I'm no expert, and at least he seems to be trying to be "scientific" and objective I guess. Anyone else read it?

It's sitting on the pile of stuff at my bedside waiting to be read.

I think the Gibbony one has read it.

I've just finished it and I thought it was quite good. But then I'm a sucker for a nice logical argument and rambling annecdotes :)

He brings it together well at the end, when he tries to construct a theory of superhenges based on the available evidence.
