So much bad news in a single thread, let alone in a single village.

I've seen Addington suffer the same fate, the closing of the PO/shop in the late 70's, one of the oldest pubs in the country now no more than a restaurant that grudgingly serves beer to locals, and the exodus of the children, followed by their parents, leaving half-million pound houses, full of people who don't know each other. I used to play for the cricket club, along with 10 or so residents, now there is a single local player in the whole club. The AmDram society would be sold out three nights running, twice a year, now nothing. The pub would be packed all weekend with locals, now I don't know anyone in there.

If this is progress, I want to regress.

Ah the good old days when you could go to the Red Lion with a fiver, have a slap up meal, 4 pints of Waddys, crisps, peanuts and a whiskey chaser and still come home with £3 change.

You can't do that these days.
they have CCTV in there now....
