Did Avebury start life with straight sides? Or was it a circle originally and over the years the edges became straighter? Or is it just a bad drawing? (Albeit better than anything I could produce...)

For such a huge site, I'd have thought such inaccuracies in the recording would be unlikely, personally, which is why I wonderd if anyone knew if it really was once anything other than round..!
