>Yeah, agree with all of that suave, especially the road back to the New Inn

I take a little torch, and just click it on as a car approaches. It's amazing how much safer you feel. The car can see you from half a mile away, and slows down in plenty of time.

We stayed in the Lodge for the first time last year, it's a class 'A' B&B. For the extra few quid it's well worth it. The front room overlooks the stones, and has a beautiful comfy bed. We'll stop there again. Wonderful!
But I do like me sausage and bacon if I'm doing a B&B though. . the Lodge serves a (very nice) veggy brecky.

Yes the New Inn at Winterbourne Monkton.

Seem to remember the bed was really comfy, the shower good and the breakfast was heartily enjoyed by my carnivorous companions.

You can walk along the busy road between there and avebury if you like, but its much more fun to take the long route by footpaths and the top of windmill hill.
I'd probably still never have made it up windmill hill if i hadnt stayed at the New Inn. It was a totally awesome experience to be up there on a clear moonlit night.
