Stop trolling :-) You know fulll well that in most cases saying something runs 'beneath a hill' means 'at the base of a hill' rather than underneath it (in a poetic sense). Roads are often said to run through a valley below SuchandSuch Hill. Taken literally 'below' would mean unsderneath too.

I couldn't resist.
I was helping with the geofiz around Silbury this spring to find the course of the Roman road.
It is under the A4 now.
Several anitquarians have dug into Silbury to see if the road went beneath it or not.
They concluded it didn't.
