>Yeah, Pilgrim, your probably right (though there is no God in Buddhism - just the Enlightened One)<

Hey, Littlestone, anyone who achieves enlightenment is a God with me, chum - I know, 'cause I'm still looking (Sometimes I get a sort of mental "on the tip of my tongue" feeling - an epithany of totality, but just as I see it.......). I dunno - the blinding white light of revalation would come as a real boost to me right now (not that I believe I deserve it anymore than anyone else, though). Questions, questions.....

>and he would probably opt to go on sleeping.<

Yeah, and I'm away too.

>But for historical, political and artistic reasons I'd like to see him lift his head from that dusty pillow and give the world another wink :-) <

Me too - like you can't keep a good man down, eh? ;-)

Peace

There's a story of a Zen monk who, one day while sweeping his temple garden, sent a little stone ;-) flying against a bamboo post. The clunk of the little stone ;-) striking the bamboo post brought the monk to a state of satori (enlightenment). I think I came close to that state today while sweeping the maple leaves from the lawn. I accidentally stood on a snail that went clunsh - but the demise of the snail, I'm afraid, has probably slowed down any further advancement along by own particular path to enlightenment :-(
