Its probably true that society was ever so, Pound's poem expresses the thought (Littlestones thread) " What thou lov'st well shall not be reft from thee",
I think it comes down to fighting the good fight in the end.........
The Stonehenge radio talk the other day could hardly be heard for the sound of cars and planes - this is the place SOLD as a number one tourist spot!

It's interesting what you said about the radio show as I never notice traffic noise there, and never have done. A microphone abbreviates what we hear of course, from memory it has a range of around 300Hz to 3KHz, and I recall Bill Oddie making a prog locally and they paid a pro gardener to stop for the day who was mowing some distance away, at least far enough off not to interfere with speech as it was being amplified and v.noticeable.

The other thing is have you noticed how throughout history advertisers have placed their car, bike, or whatever next to Stonehenge to express modernity and I suppose long standing ?

You won't find any of this in 4X4 monthly, although it does have a centre spread revealing everything under the bonnet !

A sort of Reader's carburettors !

Are the stones ever silent now?
