Starry Night has a learning curve shaped like an upturned v. Have any photographs been taken of the winter solstice sunrise looking down the stone row that is within the Great Circle. Just by looking at Thom's plan - I've never visited - my dad has - it seems that the sun could be framed by the lower (southerly) end of the row and one of the big uprights on the perimeter. Either the first or the second stone in that section of the big circle. The maximum moonrise - it gets close next year, exact the year after - should be framed between the upper section (5 stones) of that row and the next stone on the perimeter.
