VR headsets are all well and good, but to get the true experience you need a force-feedback body suit. Then you can stagger around and actually bump into the virtual stones, or caress them lovingly. Come to think of it, perhaps megalithic reconstruction wouldn't be amongst the first applications for such a device. ;o)
