I really wanted to go to Long Tom when I was at Avebury at the beginning of this year but didn't have the time - too busy with West Kennet etc. : ( There's a place near Callanish called Tom that I also wanted to go to but was too busy with Callanish, Cnoc Fillibhear Bheagg etc. : ( There's a place near Glasgow called Tom's Seat, though, and I have sat there! : )
Tom in Gaelic means "bed". If you look it up in the English dictionary then its got quite a long definition but the three main strands of meaning are "short, stupid & male". What do you reckon, FourWinds?
