Er ....Yes, faery rings can become very large, larger than those in the photo.

I would imagine that the cemetery is located where it is primarily because that is where the settlement was. A lovely wide fertile terrace, south facing, well drained with a nearby water supply. Fish in the river below, game on the moor above, who could ask for more?
The metal working may or may not post date the cemetery, I've not seen any evidence for pre-roman lead workings in the Dales but I wouldn't be at all suprised if it occurred.

What are the features on the second aerial photo? They look like a group of bell mines (or whatever they're called)
