There do seem to be two circles on that photo. Presumably the other one is 'Carperby B', which appears as a subsite of the main Carperby site (?)

Carperby is a odd one. All of the literature that I have seen fails to mention the second ring. However the fact that it's there is undisputable.

That's an ideal candidate for more photographs - Raistrick's plan shows an egg-shaped ring. Thom doesn't list the site.
