At the risk of offending delicate sensibilities ~~~~look away now~~~~cunt is entirely the right word. Fri: will be working if not raining too much, but could stop and meet you at top of Moss Rd in Totley or Houndkirk carpark at Ringinglow @16-30 if you want a quick look pre 'kosher' at unrecorded settlements, circles, weird/ritual earthworks, unique rock art or whatever...was going to get them officially verified today but he was snowed in in Buxton while I was working in sunshine in Sheff. Hi ho, will have to wait another fortnight now..still, if the stuffs been unrecognised for 3500 years whats fourteen days? Eighteen or more sites to visit - going to take us at least two days to get them all surveyed GPSd and sussed from the look of things. If weather like Stanton and work a nono I don't mind donning the gear and wandering elsewhere. Does fieldwalking atop Houndkirk Hill appeal? There are unrecorded/mapped skyline cairns visible from A621 on Totley Rise. I wanted to find Strawberry Lea but you've just been there, so never mind. Sorry Geoff, only read your post this eve, email me if owt appeals : )
Only been up You dkirk hill once. There's a lovely looking standing stone visible from the road, I must have examined it and dismissed it for some reason though, and that area still owes me. Unfinished business you could say.
Weather being bearable if x ffo up for that. Might have a mooch elsewhere first then meet you later. :)

K, up for that, but weather forecast increasingly dodgy. With your stone, the cairns and also three platform areas seen on hills NW flank plus a trackway course which comes from Ringinglow way over Houndkirk towards Blacka that makes seven things to look at already, especially as you've got GPS. If weather forecast wrong then I might be up for a meet a tad earlier, would love to take you for a yomp along cattle track to nearest settlement then onto Burbage.. another settlement, circle, great unrecorded stones and alignment one after t'other. Dunno your domestic circs and if you'd be up for wander back to vehs after in gloaming. Have been trying to do a complete sweep of the scarp - last high ground before the sea - and also spring line between Owler Bar and Ringinglow. Haven't done bit between Wimble Hill and Houndkirk Hill yet, but to say this part of the Peak edge is rich in archaeology's er, an understatement - if folk are prepared to get off the paths into the heather. And all the while you're looking down on the centre of a city or at least the affluent 'burbs. Surreal, but real. Anyhoo, email moi : )
