Another possible prob is access at a certain time of the year due to closure of paths and part of the site for nightjar nesting protection. Go to the Sheffield Bird Study Group site's events/meets page for details of their annual 'Crepuscular Creep' at Wyming/Ash Cabin, which is an indicator of when some paths reopen (the Creep is fab, I always do it and saw seven nightjars the year before last)
I'll tell you something for nowt mate, whoever runs that part of the moor is a cunt. When the moor was last burnt off it was done during nesting season. I wandered the area for an hour or so and couldn't count on my fingers and toes the amount of nests i saw with full clutches of eggs still present. It was deliberate too as they'd cut fire breaks.
On another note you doing owt Friday? Meant to e-mail you but damn life got in the way. Looking to get out somewhere but undecided yet.
