I think you might be referring to the end of the surviving sidestone. It's pointed - in the direction of the camera so the perspective might make it look like a separate stone.

These structures resonate with our collective unconsciousness - the capstone shape is so familiar - a flat boat, a stone axe, a cupped palm - but is still without meaning.

Is there an online resource which deals with the formalities of dolmen construction ? This is what I have - http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/10834 - with what may have been a capstone not far away, downhill, and unphotographed.
