But the one that worries me most around here is Amerside. Big, significant panel, totally likely to get wrecked when they rip the trees out.
There must be so much under forestry that not only will it get lost we will never even know of it existed .
Lurgan , http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/10893/lurgan.html had just been felled when I came across it , lots of crushed rocks impossible to tell if they were marked or not but luckily much of it was under 0.4 meters of earth .Sadly it's reverting to a bit of a mess but at least we know whats there .

That's so true. Sadly so. Ottercops Moss is a bit like that, the felling didn't crack that much stone, but the original planting back in the 70s did. The whole place is a right mess. At least Lurgan had you to go out tromping about to check the stuff that was exposed.

That panel that appeared at Achnabreck a couple of years back was the result of a tree falling over wasn't it? The one Brian went to see. How much stuff could be lying hiding under there? Bucketloads. If the trees never came down, it wouldn't be such a bad thing. Keeping the carvings nice and safe. But, well, you know, I guess eventually, at some point another ice age will come along and scour them away and no-one will have been any the wiser.
