Deerleap Wood Barrow 1

I wouldn't like to say for the Pennines and Cumbria, but it tends to be the bigger panels that are on the list in Northumberland. It's a bit hitty-missy. For example, Chatton Park hill is SAM status, but at the bottom of the hill, Ketley Crag isn't. Fowberry Mains is, but on the other side of the wall Weetwood Moor isn't, Snook Bank is, but just across the road, Millstone burn isn't. Then there are areas where it's patchy even within small area, at Doddington, Dod Law main, Gled Law and Buttony are all protected, but the Quarry site and the Ringses aren't.

Lordenshaws is well sorted though, it's a blanket schedule on the whole area, rocks, lumps, bumps and all. But the one that worries me most around here is Amerside. Big, significant panel, totally likely to get wrecked when they rip the trees out.

There must be so much under forestry that not only will it get lost we will never even know of it existed .
Lurgan , http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/10893/lurgan.html had just been felled when I came across it , lots of crushed rocks impossible to tell if they were marked or not but luckily much of it was under 0.4 meters of earth .Sadly it's reverting to a bit of a mess but at least we know whats there .

Have you been up to Fowberry recently? I was there last September and the whole area round the carvings is a sh*tty mess - literally. I don't know if it was all from the sheep or if the cows had wandered over it but I've never seen so much sh*t in one place outside of a farmyard. I managed to brush away some of the loose dried muck but left the stuck-on stuff. It's a shame really but I'm not sure what can be done about it short of fencing the area off.
