Stuart Piggott thought that the wall may be Dark Ages/Early Medieval, as he had seen similar structures at Dark Age forts in Scotland. I think that there has only ever been one excavation some years ago - although I'm not sure if any finds were recorded.
Hmmmm, though all the info have says there wasn't any finds a recent talk i went to the speaker said there was "a single" find, can't remember the details but i've just e-mailed him for clarification.
I'll let you know the result when he gets back to me.

" A section excavated in 1950 by F.G. Simpson through the earth
bank showed it to be of turf sod construction, and upon this evidence
the fort has been dated to the Dark Ages, perhaps the 5th or 6th
century."
