Bathampton Down?

close
more_vert

I live in Batheaston (at the Bottom of Solsbury Hill) and my morning walk to work takes me across the vale to Bathampton. I often look up to the down and I had no idea that there were standing stones up there I until read this thread. I will have to take a look.

I'm quite lucky to have such a pleasant walk to work.

Hello , You sure are lucky, mine takes me down the busiest road in town.

Hi Mazzareth, Glad you have a good walk, have you been up Solsbury Hill? if you look back to Bathampton Down you can see what I suppose are called 'celtic field' boundaries, have a photo somewhere but its not really stones...
Just discovered this below, (the three Suleva are in the museum, also have a photo of that)

When you come to a crossroads you're on the site where the stone carving of the 3 Sulevae (3 mothers) was discovered - Romano British but maybe marking an ancient shrine to Sul?
