I reckon the circle is near Kelston Round Hill, or was. Stones are marked on older maps by the River Avon. I think it is called something "Mead" field on the way to Bitton, which was also the roman Via Julia. I have a feeling the circle would have down there by the river, a bit like Stanton Drew a few kilometres away. There is also a mention in Burl about a possible avenue at Twinhoe, which is about a mile away from Stoney Littleton. There was 1965 report somewhere in Bath Library, the stones had been incorporated in a farmhouse. Bath Archaeological Trust (internet) have something about the Bathampton 18th C racecourse. Hope that helps

Waiting for paint to dry I checked Old Maps Uk. (Grid ref;367891.168887) Stones are marked in Mickle Mead. The field in which they are marked has R.Avon on one side, and the River Boyd joining it. It makes a "classical" site for a circle, a sort of triangulated shape, with water being important and... Kelston Round Hill (sacred Hill) somewhere behind it. Put that down to a tentative theory....
