I visited Arnold circus some time ago....it was a bit inner city grim though, I didnt hang around too long! Yeah, this Ravenscroft park site is a large spread mound, not too high, prob 6 footish, there is a sign saying something about a monument...not specifically ancient though, i was on my way to a gig so couldnt hang around and was with a mate who thought i was mad...going on about mounds and stuff! It doesnt look much like a 'park' unless it was piled up for kids to roll down or something....i shall look into this, any help appreciated!!

A park is simply an enclosed bit of land, as in a mediaeval reference to "the parks and meadow of Scapa". At least the name remains the same - Orkney's palaces were originally Place, which at the time meant a courtyard as distinct from the rest of the Yards.
