Do you think a plough or harrow could make those marks in one go tho? Surely it'd have to be 'one go' or they'd be all over the place. Genuinely asking - I don't know much about such things, being a townie.

They certainly look man-made to me in the photo, but not like any polisher I've seen pics of.

Hi Moth,
disc and spike harrows are sturdy bits of kit. These things can plough deep and have to be robust to break up the soil and clay. You wouldn't want one over your foot.
I'm not saying this is the cause of Chris's marks but I think it's something that should be considered.
