Yeah, I'm not sure where he got the stones from...there is an old quarry next to it on his land...so maybe from there?
I think he made it randomly -- but you're right, top present - I want one!
cheers again, Buck.

p.s. someone could probably have a field day making alignments out of it! :)

I saw this yesterday from Cairnpapple itself and, I have to admit, started frantically searching through Aubrey Burl and stuff trying to find it...However when I did get there the rather silly 'micro-dolmen' at the centre rather gave it away.
In some ways though I'm all for these modern circles, I mean why not? In Brittany the tradition for stone raising is still very much alive (albeit generally for landscape garndening purposes) and to be honest no ones gonna be fooled by these things.
Has anyone read Stone Circles: A Modern Builder's Guide to the Megalithic Revival
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1890132039/qid=1069666265/sr=1-7/ref=sr_1_3_7/202-3950847-0358201 by a bloke called Rob Roy (not the Rob Roy....). Apart from having rather a lot of New-Age bollocks at the begining it's pretty good when he gets into the experimental archaeology stuff at the end.
Anyway next week I'm gonna try and get up early enough to drive to Aberdeen (remembered to late about how short the days are up here...).
