Could I interject here... you say "less signs at our wild places", which I, on the whole, agree with. In this case though it would be hard to define the monument as a wild place - it lies just of the road side, 2 minutes outside Chapel Stile village and already has a dry stone wall bisecting it. A sign attached to the wall (just by the steps perhaps?) would really not alter the mood of the setting.
