In addition to Machrie Moor, Arran is best known for its concentration of chambered cairns - 22 of them.

If you're interested and you cannot get into CANMORE (currently frequently unavailable due to site improvement work) before you need to plan your visit, email me ([email protected]) and I can give you grid references and some brief notes (not based on visits but for a proposed trip).

Hiya,

According to ancient Irish annals, Arran is the home of Mannan, the sea god.

Makes sense. Once you go, you will find yourself going back time and time again. It is trully unique in it's beauty and diversity.

I envy you going for a week.........
