I went in search of this again today but was thwarted totally by the long grass in the field where it is - the stone is about 2 feet tall apparently - but the grass is twice that ho - hum.
I asked a few locals if they knew where it was but most hadn't heard of it apart from one old boy who at least was able to narrow the search down to one corner of the field so watch this space - although I think that I will need a large scythe to stand any chance of seeing it before the autumn. ;-)

Just out of interest has anyone actually seen this yet?

Approximately where is this stone then Joolio? It sounds like it might be fun seeking it out, with nothing but a map, a compass and a strimmer. I'm often in Hertfordshyre, so I quite fancy having a look for it.

Although raised in Bedfordshire I am sorry to say I've never been out to see this stone - but I have found mention of it in another website - kind of encouraging the idea that it does exist.

might be worth getting hold of 'from carnac to callanish' to see if the grid reference is different to the one given by guttbucket? There's no sign of a stone on my beloved os getamap site, but then if it's only small it'd be easily overlooked by a map make from out-of-town. People in Marston Mortaine must know!!!
