Visit advice

close

Am spending 3 days about 5 miles from Capel Garmon and should have a couple of site visiting opportunities. What are the must sees in the area, easy access preferred due to limited time....

Capel Garmon? :-)

We visited there when we had a bank holiday weekend in Llandudno a few years ago. Managed to take in most of Anglesey on that trip, so the world is almost your oyster if you're based anywhere that way. It's all fairly reachable.

Lucky lucky. The whole of the Tal y Fan complex is about a dozen miles away, just over the river, Maen y Bardd and the Druid's Circle are both in the first rank of sites to my mind if you've not visited them.

I've not been to many of the sites around Capel Garmon (except CG itself, which is very easy access). Hendre Waelod tomb is fairly close and access is easy across a couple of fields on a footpath.

Thanks guys! Not going till end of next month, so plenty of time to plan a couple of trips :)

Having never been to Anglesey should I just head there instead of the localer sites even though it would have to be a flying visit or wait till next year and make a long weekend of it?

Jane's blogs any good to you? http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/35937/conwy_crusade_three_burial_chambers_and_a_stone_row.html
