Was speaking to a family friend who seems to have some kind of involvement with the forestry people in Wicklow, they made a visit to Boleycarrigeen and were told the trees around the circle were overdue for clearance, especially as some had fallen during the storms at the start of this year, but the specific person who could say when it would go ahead was on holidays.
I think the story is that the OPW want the site cleared to prevent possible damage if there's more storms but it's up to the forestry to do the work.
Sounds like the site could be cleared in the near future. Will let you know more as I hear it.

That would be great, I presume when you say clearance that you mean a 360 degree clearance?
It will be very interesting to see what the views are like from the circle.

Last time I was there, January '08, there were a very few trees left so it's possible that your info is out of date and the trees are already felled. Let's hope that if and when they do the job that they leave a respectable distance around the circle when re-planting.
