You guys get around a lot more than some of us and must see this kind of thing quite often. We did notice it at Carreg Samson a couple of years ago though. There it was cattle, not horses, that were really churning up the surrounding ground (as well as using the stones as scratching posts).

Just wonder if a (livestock) exclusion zone of say three or four meters shouldn’t be mandatory for listed monuments on farmland.

But don't hold your breath, this damage is still ongoing.

Don't get me going on Arbor low, Never paid and never will [and i've been loads] until they keep the cows off [someone even put money in for me once and i made them go take it out], even the missus had a go at them once about it and the silly cow said they only put them on there at certain times of the year, I say keep them off ALL the time, i get how sheep are like lawn mowers and keep the grass down but cows/horses at Ancient sites should always be a no no [by law].
