I've pestered the Lancashire County Archaeologist to look after the rock art just north of Bolton. I was trying to impress on him the urgency of the situation - particularly with regard to the Anderton Stone, which should be in a museum. EH Manchester are 'away with the mixer' - allegedly (of course). The spiral is believed to date from 1993 and nobody knows who made it, or why.
