Only just realised that I wound up at the Banshee Stone exactly one year after Ryaner's vist! Access is still a nightmare, maybe more difficult since some of the trees around the megalith have fallen but after speaking with the farmer who has the rock art in his garden at Spahill, I think he said it may be cleared up soon. I told him of my woes getting to it after he explained the rock art was found nearby but his voice was so low I could barely make out something about clearing the place around the tomb.
He told me something similar last year. I had an anti-bracken frenzy there. I'd love to see the whole field cleared to see what views there are from the tomb. Did you see the pavement-like outcrop close by?

Yeah there's some intriguing looking slabs and outcrops lying around which is why I'd love to see the site cleared out. I did have a quick gander at the pavement for some RA seeing as how there was some found nearby but there's too much moss and lichen.

Did you see the fantastic stone standing in the field wall, about 6ft high? It's got a profile very like the Doagh holed stone but with a small shoulder on the longest edge. Sticks out like a sore thumb in the low wall.

The tomb does seem to point direct to Mount Leinster, interesting observations by the two guys that made that report would be great to follow up.
