Hello Tiompan, sometimes on the way down to the football I drive over the Cairn O Mount. Is that a genuine cairn or just a pile of boulders put there by walkers/tourists, or a mixture of both? I couldn't find a pub in Tealing either!!
Hi Drew , pity you didn't let me know you were coming to Tealing , I'm only a mile from the souterrain . There is a pub but you might have preferred your flask ,whisky or tea .
It's always the problem that if the site has never been excavated or anything dateable found how can you tell if it's prehistoric .
There are three cairns at Cairn o Mount one had a cross so likely to be medieval or later , the two bigger cairns are on an important route over the mounth which was also a military road so possibly a big equivelant of a walkers cairn .

Thank you (hope the hols went well), I'd stayed overnight at a friends in Invergowrie on the way back from the Simple Minds gig. Will let you know the next time I'm looking around Tealing and might well sample a whisky or 2 in the pub! As for cairns I found a walkers cairn on top of Wheedlemont Hillfort. Looking to the west I spied loads of hut circles and outcrops. The cup marked stone at Cuttieburn, appeared to be invisible! Any clues? And have you had any more discoveries?
