One of the most interesting points about this so called 'Christian' society we live in is that many people are still 'buried' - to use the term loosely - at these spots, judging by the miscellaneous plaques etc that are to be found at many summits. I guess the most celebrated is a certain Mr Wainwright upon Haystacks above Buttermere...... said something like 'take care, that bit of grit in your boot could be me'. Marvellous. When I go I hope to have my ashes flung to the heavens in this manner.
