Excavation has stopped while a descision is made as to whether it is a National Monument or not. If it is deemed so then the motorway route will have to change. Full stop. End of story! (unless they change the law again, but I think this one would be constitutional and so need a referendum.)

The site lies under the entire width of the planned northbound carriageway.

That puts the site contemporary with the currently visible enclosures on Tara, but post-dating the huge wood henge that once stood on the hilltop.
