And what is all this stuff about it costing £6 million to abandon the road, but £400K to build it??
Instead of being ridiculous and saying 'oh it would cost 110 million pounds to build a tunnel under it', why don't they just - doh - divert the road. You know, in a BEND round it. Is that so difficult and is that really going to cost them so much money to buy the field next door.
It's just pathetic. Actually, perhaps the best place for the ribbon is back under the ground, where it can wait until somebody sensible and who actually gives a monkeys wants to smash the road up and look at it. Tsk.

Unkind people, me included, are aware of certain matters leading us to believe that it is known, though not admitted publicly, that the ribbon stretches for a very long way in both directions and that therefore it is impossible to divert the road round it.

This will be "discovered" during the EH funded investigations that will take place AFTER the road has been built, you watch. We will be left with a truly spectacular world-significant bronze age structure stretching from a sacred hill out to who knows what, bisected by a road. Think Stonehenge Avenue, bisected by the A344.

And all because "someone" wants to make loadsadosh and the protection system is a pathetic gutless farce.
