Had a look in the new version of Craig Weatherhills "Cornish Place names..."today. He claims it is of English origin for Dancing Stones. This would tie in with all those other games related names.....but I feel is a cop out..he gives no reason why trippet means dancing.

That's close enough for me!

I hereby declare myself first person in the world to make the connection, and thus claim my fiver. Hoorah! ;)

But seriously... It's seeming more likely that there IS a connection, isn't it? I will pry further into this one to see if any more corroborative evidence turns up. :)
