Fw, could you give a more exact idea of the location of the fort - the hill to the West or the East of the icecream place?
There are plans to expand the airport hugely, and we could do with some archaeological treasures on the line of the new runway...
Thanks.

I am trying to remember the roads there. It's ages since I was around Bobington way.

If you head up to the common from Navigation (what a pub in the summer!) you go over the brow of the hill and drop down past a farm, where there were either always cows crossing causing me to slam on the brakes! or the cows had covered the road in shite and you would aquaplane along the road.

Before dropping down to the farm at the top of the hill you can (I think turn right to go down to the other car park). Anyway, I'm confusing the issue now! The fort is on the brow of that hill (before the farm coming from the Navi) on the left hand side.

If you can give me a Multimap link to the Navigation pub I'll look at the map and give you one back for the fort. How's that?

I think it's too far away from the airport unless they're thinking of landing Concorde there!

Mind you, in the war they used to fly Flying Fortresses from there. If you stand on the road at the end of the runway with your back to it you can see the old extent of the runway on the other side of the road. There is a bloody great hole there somewhere from when a returning plae had to drop its bombs beacause its undercarriage had failed to come down and they had to crash land.

Did you used to go to the Sunday Markets at Halfpenny ('ape-penny') Green?

How's about the airshows?
