I seem to remember ponds marked on the diagram on the plaque at the foot of Maiden Castle, and maybe even some mention of them in the text. As I say, I could be wrong.

and, if memory serves, there was no water in them, but there were shallow depressions where they were meant to be.

I hope I'm not thinking of somewhere else....
