Of course Iolo, with the Rocking Stone at Pont-y-pridd.....

Then there is The Circus at Bath, John Wood modelled it on Stanton Drew stone circle. and also Stukeley in his garden, retired to Licolnshire when he was mocked in London, and grew a 'tree circle' in his garden....

"in his garden that he created a 'sacred landscape'. It included a Temple of the Druids, which consisted of concentric circles of hazels and evergreens modelled on Stonehenge, an apple tree with mistletoe growing in its branches was at the centre of the circle. Apparently he also had a 'tumulus' beside the temple and a little chapel which contained a roman altar."

So one of the earliest most famous recorders of prehistoric stuff, Stukeley, was also given to fanciful thoughts, same as Iolo who as a Welsh visionary coloured his view of the world with laudanum...

Mock on, mock on, Voltaire, Rousseau;
Mock on, mock on; 'tis all in vain!
You throw the sand against the wind,
And the wind blows it back again.
And every sand becomes a gem
Reflected in the beams divine;
Blown back they blind the mocking eye,
But still in Israel's paths they shine.

The Atoms of Democritus
And Newton's Particles of Light
Are sands upon the Red Sea shore,
Where Israel's tents do shine so bright.
